ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister PM Shehbaz Sharif on Thursday reaffirmed his government’s commitment to empowering Pakistan’s youth with cutting-edge technological skills, emphasizing their pivotal role in national development and economic prosperity.
Speaking at the launch ceremony of the Prime Minister’s Digital Youth Hub, the premier vowed to allocate all necessary resources to provide top-tier training opportunities, enabling young Pakistanis to become productive contributors to society.
Recalling his tenure as Punjab’s chief minister, PM Sharif highlighted his previous initiative of distributing 400,000 laptops to high-achieving students, stating, “This was the vision for which I worked hard.” He stressed that Pakistan’s youth represent both a challenge and a tremendous opportunity, adding that with proper training in Information Technology (IT) and Artificial Intelligence (AI), they could propel the country toward progress.
“If given the right opportunities, our youth can help Pakistan become one of the world’s leading economies,” he asserted. The premier also expressed his determination to prioritize youth training by reallocating funds from other expenditures, calling them “Pakistan’s biggest asset.”

Touching on economic stability, PM Sharif mentioned the recent staff-level agreement with the International Monetary Fund (IMF)**, acknowledging that while it provided stability, the nation must strive to “get rid of this loan.”* He urged the youth to work diligently, as their contributions could help steer Pakistan toward self-reliance.
The event also featured remarks from UNICEF and other officials, who praised the initiative as a platform of hope and opportunity. UN Resident Coordinator Muhammad Yahya* described the Digital Youth Hub as the beginning of a journey toward Pakistan’s development and prosperity.
