ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif was met by Dr. Aafia Siddiqui’s sister Dr. Fawzia Siddiqui, in which matters related to Dr. Aafia’s case were discussed in detail.
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif said that the government of Pakistan has not demonstrated any negligence in the case of Dr. Aafia Siddiqui and will not remain idle in efforts for her release. Shehbaz Sharif said that in the past government has provided possible assistance at the diplomatic and legal level and would also work hard to play role in her release. The Prime Minister assured Dr. Fawzia Siddiqui that the government will provide all possible legal and diplomatic assistance in this matter in the future as well.
He said that earlier he had also raised this issue through correspondence with US President Joe Biden. The Prime Minister has formed a special committee headed by Federal Minister for Law and Justice Azam Nazir Tarar, which will be in constant touch with Dr. Fawzia Siddiqui and will work to provide all possible assistance required in this matter.
