ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister PM Shehbaz Sharif announced on Thursday the restoration of special quotas for students from merged tribal districts in medical colleges and engineering universities across Pakistan. The decision came during a meeting with a delegation of tribal elders led by Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-F (JUI-F) chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman at the Prime Minister’s House.
The tribal leaders welcomed the move, calling it a positive step for youth development in the region. PM Shehbaz emphasized that peace and progress in the merged districts remain the government’s top priority. He praised tribal communities for their historic sacrifices in defending Pakistan’s security and assured them of continued federal support.
The Prime Minister highlighted ongoing efforts to improve education, healthcare, and job opportunities in the tribal areas. He revealed that significant funds have been allocated to upgrade university infrastructure and police facilities in the region. Security forces were also commended for their role in combating terrorism.
PM Shehbaz urged religious and political leaders to unite for national stability, stating, “Pakistan’s future depends on peace in tribal areas, and we must work together to achieve it.”
