ISLAMABAD: The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has issued a weather advisory for Thursday, predicting rain, thunderstorms, and strong winds in several areas of Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP).
According to the Met Office, plains in Punjab are expected to experience strong, dusty winds. Light rainfall is likely in cities including Talagang, Jhelum, and Rawalpindi. Isolated thunderstorms with showers are also forecast in hilly areas such as Murree, Galiyat, Attock, and Chakwal, particularly during the evening and night.
Islamabad and its surrounding regions will continue to face intense daytime heat. However, the PMD indicated a chance of rain accompanied by thunderstorms in some areas later in the night.
In KP, similar weather conditions are anticipated. Strong, dusty winds are expected in the plains, while upper districts—such as Chitral, Dir, Swat, and Malakand—may receive thunderstorm-driven showers during nighttime hours. Other areas including Mansehra, Shangla, Kohistan, and Abbottabad are also likely to experience rainfall with thunder.
Meanwhile, most of Sindh—including Karachi, Hyderabad, Sukkur, and Larkana—will continue to see extremely hot and dry weather. Comparable conditions are expected across much of Balochistan, where temperatures are predicted to remain well above seasonal averages.
The PMD has advised citizens, especially those in regions experiencing heatwave-like conditions, to stay indoors during peak afternoon hours, stay hydrated, and avoid unnecessary exposure to the sun.
