ISLAMABAD: The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has forecast a rise in temperatures across most parts of the country starting today (April 13), with the possibility of a heatwave persisting through the week until Friday.
According to the PMD’s heatwave alert, daytime temperatures are expected to soar 6 to 8°C above normal in several cities. Islamabad, central and upper Punjab, and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa will experience hot and dry conditions, with temperatures climbing 4 to 6°C above average. The heatwave may also trigger gusty winds in KP.
Hot weather is also predicted for Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan beginning tomorrow.
On Saturday, temperatures peaked at 43°C in Nawabshah, Hyderabad, and Dadu. Karachi recorded 39°C, DI Khan 37°C, Lahore and Peshawar 35°C, and Islamabad 33°C.
Meanwhile, private weather analysts have forecast above-average rainfall for Karachi this summer.
The PMD has urged citizens to avoid unnecessary travel during peak heat hours and stay hydrated to mitigate the effects of rising temperatures.
