PESHAWAR: A police constable martyred when unidentified motorcycle-riding attackers opened firing on him near Shah Jee Abad Peshawar on Saturday, police sources confirmed.
The victim, Constable Shahenshah—son of Ahmad Jan, badge number 6858—was assigned as a reader at Hashtnagri Police Station. He was on his way to work from his residence in Shahpur Budhni when gunmen opened fire near the Shah Jee Abad cemetery, fatally wounding him.
Following the incident, SP Rural Division Mukhtiar Ali arrived at the scene with local police officers. The body was shifted to a hospital for post-mortem examination, and law enforcement officials began collecting key evidence from the site as part of the ongoing investigation. Police authorities have launched a search operation to track down those responsible for the attack.
The funeral of police constable Shahenshah, who was martyred in a targeted attack near Shah Jee Abad cemetery within the jurisdiction of Shahpur Police Station, was held with full official honors at Malik Saad Shaheed Police Lines in Peshawar.
The solemn ceremony was attended by Inspector General of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Police, Zulfiqar Hameed, Capital City Police Officer (CCPO) Peshawar Qasim Ali Khan, SSP Operations Masood Ahmed, SSP Investigation Noor Jamal, senior officers from the Pakistan Army, SP Headquarters Ali Gohar, divisional SPs, and family members of the martyred officer.
A smartly turned-out police contingent presented a guard of honor to pay tribute to the fallen officer. Senior police officials also laid floral wreaths on the martyr’s coffin and offered prayers for his forgiveness and elevated status in the hereafter.
Speaking to Shahenshah’s family, IG Police Zulfiqar Hameed and CCPO Qasim Ali Khan expressed deep condolences and assured them that those responsible for the attack would be brought to justice swiftly. They emphasized that enemies of the state would not be allowed to escape accountability.
