Police constable, proclaimed offender killed in gunbattle in Swat

MINGORA: A police constable was killed and an assistant sub inspector was seriously injured in a firing during a search operation in the Fizagat area of ​​Swat. The attacker was also killed in police retaliation.

According to the police, police carried out a search operation to arrest proclaimed offender Ahmed Zeb.

The accused opened fire from a house when he saw a police team. As a result, a police constable identified as Niaz Muhammad was martyred while Assistant Sub Inspector (ASI) Amjad Iqbal was injured in the crossing fire.  Niaz Muhammad was a resident of Islampur while injured ASI resident of Saidu Sharif.

The injured police inspector was immediately shifted to Saidu Sharif Hospital, where his condition is said to be critical.

The police reinforcements were deployed to chase down the attacker. The police, later, killed the proclaimed offender in the retaliation operation.

The operation was supervised by DPO Swat Nasir Mahmood.

According to police, the accused was wanted to police in the killing of Inspector Rahim Khan.
