BANNU: The Bomb Disposal Unit (BDU) of Bannu police defused an improvised explosive device (IED) in the limits of Bannu’s Hoveed police station on Monday.
According to the Bannu police, unknown terrorists had planted the explosive material in Zandi Akbar Khan Chowk, where a large number of people were present. They said it was a remote-controlled bomb and if it had exploded, there was the chance of heavy loss of life and property.
Police said that as soon as the information about the bomb was received, the police and the bomb disposal squad reached the spot, surrounded the area and defused the explosive material.
Police say that as a result of this successful operation, a major tragedy was averted, and the lives of the citizens were saved.
The police have started a search operation in the area, and the search for the terrorists is underway.
Citizens have also been instructed to immediately report any suspicious object or activity so that the city can be saved from any further possible danger.
