PESHAWAR: Police have thwarted a terrorist attack on a check post in Bannu district of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, police said on Tuesday.
The Central Police Office (CPO) Peshawar claimed that 19 terrorists attacked the police check post in “Dhadhe Pul” area of the district late night on Monday. The CPO Peshawar said that terrorists came on 8 motorcycles, out of which 3 terrorists were seen moving towards the police post.
The CPO Peshawar said that the terrorists wanted to attack by targeting the cameras of the police post and during this, the terrorists opened fire on the post from different sides.
According to the CPO, the police personnel took timely action and foiled the attack and forced the attackers to flee the area. The police said the no loss of life was reported in the attack.
It is pertinent to mention that terrorist attacks on forces were increased in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan provinces during the recent months.
Earlier this month, Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Syed Asim Munir, while addressing the 268th Corps Commanders’ Conference (CCC)at the General Headquarters (GHQ) said that no one will be allowed to disrupt peace in Pakistan and promote the foreign-funded proxies including social disruptive elements.
These elements will be decisively thwarted with the unwavering support of the people, the forum repeated.
