BANNU: Bannu was placed on high security alert following reports of unidentified drones flying over sensitive areas late Tuesday night.
According to security sources, suspicious drone activity was detected within the jurisdiction of the Cantt Police Station. The drones were specifically observed flying near critical security installations, including the Cantt Police Station itself, the Regional Police Office (RPO), and the Police Lines.
Security guards and police personnel on duty responded immediately upon spotting the drones, opening fire in an attempt to bring them down. The outcome of the firing is currently unknown.
Authorities stated that the heightened security alert was declared due to the inherent threat posed by the unidentified drones combined with the existing tense law and order situation in Bannu. Security agencies are actively investigating the incident and searching for the drones’ origin and operators.
