Couple shot dead in suspected honour killing in Mardan

CHARSADDA: A dead body of a young girl was recovere inside a suitcase on Ghani Khan Road, near the jurisdiction of the City Police Station.

The suitcase had “Charsadda” written on it, suggesting either a link to the area or an attempt to mislead investigators. Upon receiving information, local police reached the scene and immediately shifted the body to the District Headquarters Hospital for a post-mortem examination. So far, the identity of the girl has not been confirmed.

Initial reports suggest that the girl was murdered and then placed inside the suitcase, possibly to conceal the crime and delay identification. The suitcase was discovered in a public area, raising concerns about the security situation in the region.

Ghani Khan Road has been in the spotlight recently for other acts of violence. For instance, on April 30, 2025, a police officer named Farooq and a health department worker were shot at by unidentified individuals on a motorcycle at the same location. Farooq was killed on the spot, and the second person sustained serious injuries. No suspects were arrested in that case either.

Police are now investigating whether there is any connection between these incidents. Forensics teams are analyzing the suitcase for fingerprints and other evidence. CCTV footage from nearby areas is also being reviewed to trace the suspect’s movements.

Police have urged the public to come forward with any information that might help identify the girl or assist in solving the case. Further updates are expected once the post-mortem report is released and more forensic evidence is gathered. This case has shocked the local community, highlighting ongoing concerns about public security  and the rise in violent crimes in the area.
