PESHAWAR: Police have registered a first information report (FIR) of Ormur, Peshawar blast at the Counter Terrorism Department (CTD). Renowned religious cleric Mufti Munir Shakir was martyred, and four others were injured in the bombing.
According to the FIR registered on the complaint of Ormur police station, the Station House Officer stated that an improvised explosive device was planted at the entry gate of the mosque, and Mufti Munir Shakir was the target of the militants.
The FIR mentioned upon receiving information about the blast outside the mosque, the party rushed the scene, where, including Mufti Munir Shakir, four persons were injured.
It said that Mufti Munir Shakir succumbed to his injuries at Lady Reading Hospital LRH in Peshawar late on Saturday night.
Mufti Munir Shakir has been a vocal voice against the recent terror and highlighting the security crises and was famous for being a critical voice of the Pakhtun community.
