ISLAMABAD: Following India’s formal ceasefire announcement on Saturday, Pakistan’s political leadership extended heartfelt congratulations to the nation and the armed forces, commending their role in defending the country’s sovereignty.
Leaders from all major parties hailed the military’s professionalism and determination, describing the ceasefire as a proud moment for the nation.
Across Pakistan, public rallies erupted in celebration, with citizens waving flags, chanting patriotic slogans, and expressing joy over what many called a diplomatic and strategic victory for the country. Chinese nationals residing in Pakistan were also seen joining the festivities.
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, in a conversation with Awami National Party (ANP) Senator Aimal Wali Khan, congratulated him on the ceasefire and acknowledged his unwavering call for peace during the crisis. “No one is more relieved than the people of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa,” said the prime minister, extending his greetings to the entire Pashtun community.
Senator Aimal Wali Khan praised Pakistan’s armed forces—particularly the Air Force—for their role in national defence, emphasizing that “peace is the only viable path forward.”
Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz called the ceasefire a “great victory” for Pakistan. In posts on X (formerly Twitter), she wrote, “Pakistan has won. Congratulations to the nation — Pakistan Zindabad!”
Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) Chairman Bilawal Bhutto-Zardari also hailed the ceasefire as a historic milestone, achieved through unity, resolve, and a strong national defence. He honored the civilians and soldiers martyred during the recent hostilities and commended the government’s “measured yet firm” response to Indian aggression.
Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Governor Faisal Karim Kundi called the ceasefire a “moment of triumph” and a key step toward long-term regional peace. He reiterated Pakistan’s consistent advocacy for peace and praised the armed forces—especially the Air Force—for their decisive action. “Our brave forces have once again made the nation proud,” he said.
