PESHAWAR: Due to poor construction, rainwater started dripping from the roof of the new unit of Hayatabad Medical Complex in Peshawar.
According to Hayat Medical Complex Peshawar officials, the poor construction of the new Orthopaedic Spine and Trauma Unit in Hayatabad Medical Complex has been revealed, and the roof seems to be leaked by dripping out rain water in the newly constructed unit. The newly constructed operation theatre started dripping due to rain on the second day of its opening. a video of water dripping in the operating theatre went viral on social media. The doctors operating were managing to stop the rainwater by placing buckets. According to the authorities, the Orthopaedic Surgery and Spine Unit of HMC was completed in 10 years, the operation theatre was opened for patients a few days earlier. Sources said that the unit was inaugurated 10 years ago in the Pervez Khattak era and was completed after a long time.
If rainwater leakage is already appearing in a new healthcare facility, it not only reflects poor construction but also signals systemic failures in project planning, execution, and monitoring. Addressing this requires public accountability, independent audits, and stricter enforcement of construction standards.
