PESHAWAR: The Chief Secretary Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Shahab Ali Shah on Monday expressed concern over the province’s officers making appointments and transfers based on influence and recommendation, and clarified that disciplinary action would be taken against such officers who make appointments through informal channels and recommendations.
In this regard, the Establishment Department has issued a letter to the Additional Chief Secretary of Planning and Development, the Additional Chief Secretary Home Department, and all Administrative Secretaries and Deputy Commissioners of all districts.
The letter available with Pakhtun Digital states that the competent authorities of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa have expressed concern over making appointments based on recommendations. Such measures are affecting the performance of officers and the professional capabilities of officers making appointments based on recommendation have been adversely affected.
Therefore, to bring transparency to appointments, the Chief Secretary Khyber Pakhtunkhwa will hold a session for 2 hours every month.
The letter noted that during this session, officers could submit their applications in person or through Zoom.
Additionally, the letter states that the procedure laid down for appointments should be implemented, otherwise disciplinary action would be taken against such officers who make appointments and transfers through recommendations or informal channels.
