MARDAN : Angry protesters blocked the Mardan-Nowshera road and Sheikh Maltoon area on Sunday night, demanding an end to prolonged power outages.
Residents of Mohbatabad and nearby housing societies staged demonstrations, shutting down key roads after enduring severe load shedding for hours.
Protesters expressed frustration over unannounced power cuts, which disrupted daily life and businesses. The road closures caused traffic disruptions, with commuters stranded for hours.
Separate Firing Incident Leaves One Dead, One Injured in Mardan
In a separate incident in Rustam Bazaar, Kale, a clash between two rival groups over an old enmity turned violent, resulting in gunfire. According to rescue sources, 35-year-old Nawash was killed, while 17-year-old Wasif sustained injuries.
Rescue teams rushed the injured teenager to Mardan Medical Complex (MMC) Hospital, while Nawash’s body was taken to Type D Hospital. Officials confirmed that the deceased and the injured were uncle and nephew.
Police have launched an investigation into the shooting and are searching for the suspects involved.
