ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif’s coalition government has summoned the joint sitting of Pakistan’s bicameral Parliament on March 10 at 3pm.

President Asif Ali Zardari will address the joint session of the parliament to kick start the new parliamentary year.

This will be the second address of the current president to the 16th National Assembly. He addressed the lower house on April 18 of 2024, at the start of its first parliamentary year.

Officials said that preparations are underway for the session, which will set the tone for the upcoming legislative agenda.

Meanwhile, the National Assembly is scheduled to meet separately the following day, March 11 at 11 am, to take up key matters of governance and policy.

President Zardari’s address is expected to highlight the government’s priorities, economic challenges, and policy direction for the coming year.

This will be Zardari’s eighth address to parliament as President. During his first term as the president between 2008 and 2013, he addressed joint parliamentary sessions six times.
