President Zardari contracts COVID-19: Dr Asim Hussain

President Asif Ali Zardari has tested positive for COVID-19 and is currently in isolation, according to his physician, Dr Asim Hussain, who provided this information on Wednesday.

Dr Hussain stated in an interview with Geo News that the president is receiving medical care from infectious disease specialists at a private hospital. “Due to his condition, all meetings with the president have been strictly prohibited,” he added. He also emphasized that President Zardari is being closely monitored, and multiple tests have been conducted to assess his health status. “The medical team is ensuring round-the-clock observation to manage his condition effectively,” he noted.

President Zardari was transferred to a private hospital in Karachi from Nawabshah after experiencing health issues.

In a separate statement, Sindh Senior Minister Sharjeel Memon refuted reports regarding Zardari’s health, stating that his condition is improving. Memon also clarified that claims about President Zardari being moved to Dubai for medical treatment are untrue and expressed confidence that the president would recover completely.

Earlier, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif had inquired about President Zardari’s health through a phone call, offering prayers for his swift recovery and noting that the nation is united in wishing him well.

Meanwhile, Sindh Governor Kamran Tessori also reached out to Dr Asim Hussain to inquire about the president’s health and to send his best wishes.
