President Zardari pledges to uphold Bhutto’s vision on 46th death anniversary

ISLAMABAD: President Asif Ali Zardari paid tribute to former Prime Minister and Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) founder Zulfikar Ali Bhutto on the eve of his 46th death anniversary, vowing to continue his mission of building a prosperous, sovereign, and people-centric Pakistan.

In a message issued on Thursday, the president hailed Bhutto as a “great statesman, courageous leader, and true representative of the people,” crediting him for setting Pakistan on the path of development, sovereignty, and public welfare.

“Shaheed Zulfikar Ali Bhutto gave the nation its first unanimous constitution, laid the foundation of Pakistan’s nuclear program, and established an independent foreign policy,” President Zardari stated. He also highlighted Bhutto’s role in hosting the Islamic Summit Conference, which strengthened unity among Muslim nations.

The president further praised Bhutto’s efforts in empowering workers, farmers, and marginalized communities while advancing education, industry, and defense sectors.

Reaffirming his commitment to democracy and national sovereignty, Zardari pledged to safeguard the rights of the people in line with Bhutto’s legacy.
