KARACHI: Pakistan’s president, Asif Ali Zardari, has tested negative for COVID-19, as confirmed by his physician, Dr Asim, to a private TV channel on Friday night. This follows his earlier positive diagnosis earlier this month.
Mr Asim stated, “The president has tested negative for COVID-19 on a rapid test but remains under the care of infectious disease specialists.” He also mentioned that President Zardari is showing signs of improvement after receiving medical treatment.
Currently, the president is undergoing physiotherapy and is expected to remain hospitalized for a few more days. At this time, doctors have not permitted visitors to see President Zardari since his positive COVID-19 test on April 2.
After his COVID-19 diagnosis, President Zardari was placed in isolation and is under close medical supervision. Dr Asim noted that specialists in infectious diseases examine the president three times a day.
