LAHORE: The wait for fans is finally over. The 10th edition of the Pakistan Super League (PSL) will start today with the grand opening ceremony at Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium.
An opening ceremony featuring a colorful and lively event will be held at Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium. Music singers, including Abida Parveen, Ali Zafar, and others, will perform to entertain the crowd of the PSL 2025.
The opening ceremony will be followed by a match with defending Champions Islamabad United taking on Lahore Qalandars. Lahore Qalandars will want to take revenge for last season’s opening match defeat that set the momentum for Islamabad United to win the 2025 title. Both teams were also met in the opening match of the PSL 2023 season in which Lahore Qalanders won the match and the title, later.
Islamabad United is the only team to have won the PSL title thrice while Lahore Qalandars have lifted the trophy twice in the captaincy of Shaheen Shah Afridi.

Islamabad United will be led by Shadab Khan, while Shaheen Afridi will captain Lahore Qalandars. Both teams have the support of experienced local and international players.
In terms of matches, Islamabad United has played a total of 100 matches in the PSL, winning 55, losing 44, and drawing 1.
Lahore Qalandars won 40 matches and faced defeat in 51 matches out of 94 matches of all nine seasons. Three matches ended in a tie.
This season will feature several big international names in the commentary box, including former England cricketer Alastair Cook.
