PSL X final: Lahore’s Gaddafi stadium to decide champions tonight

LAHORE: Lahore’s iconic Gaddafi Stadium is set to host the much-anticipated final of the Pakistan Super League (PSL) Season X tonight, featuring a high-stakes clash between two-time champions Lahore Qalandars and the in-form Quetta Gladiators.

Quetta Gladiators, led by Saud Shakeel after he took over the captaincy from Rilee Rossouw this season, are eyeing their first PSL title since 2019. After a dominant campaign that saw them finish the league stage at the top with 15 points from 10 games, Saud expressed pride in his team’s journey.

“We’re excited to be in the final and fully committed to bringing the trophy home,” Saud said in a statement released by the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB). He highlighted the Gladiators’ strong form at Gaddafi Stadium, where they have won five out of six matches, calling it a “lucky venue” for the side.

“Our players have stepped up in difficult moments. Lahore is a tough opponent, and fans can expect a thrilling contest,” he added.

Qalandars chasing historic third title

Lahore Qalandars captain Shaheen Shah Afridi shared his excitement ahead of the final, saying the team is determined to complete a historic treble by winning their third PSL title—especially on home turf.

“We’re proud to have made it to our third final in four years, and we’re hungry to make it three titles,” Afridi said.

Despite a rocky league phase that saw them finish fourth with 11 points, Qalandars bounced back strongly in the playoffs, defeating Karachi Kings by six wickets and overpowering Islamabad United by 95 runs to book their place in the final.

Shaheen credited his side’s aggressive mindset as the key to their resurgence and noted their earlier success against Quetta this season—a convincing 79-run win and an abandoned match, both in Lahore. “We’re hoping to carry that momentum into the final,” he added.
