PSL X: Quetta Gladiators defeat Multan Sultans by 10 wickets

Quetta Gladiators defeated Multan Sultans by 10 wickets in the 18th match of the Pakistan Super League (PSL) season 10. The match was played between Quetta Gladiators and Multan Sultans at Qaddafi Cricket Stadium Lahore here on Tuesday.

After winning the match, Quetta Gladiators have taken a place at 10 in the series. The Quetta Gladiators captain, Mohammad Rizwan, made 44 runs and remained not out in the game. Just 90 runs were needed, Saud and Allen chased it in style, scoring 42 and 45 each.

In the PSL X season 10, 18th match, elected to field first and defeated the Multan Sultans team by 10 wickets and 79 balls remaining.

Khurram Shahzad was the star with the ball, who took 4 wickets with the new ball and set Sultans on the backfoot.

The Quetta Gladiators have firmly established themselves as the most formidable bowling unit in PSL X, securing their third successive victory by dismantling opposition line-ups with ruthless precision. At the same venue, they have restricted Karachi Kings to 137, Peshawar Zalmi to 114, and now Multan Sultans to a mere 84 runs.

On a lively Gaddafi Stadium pitch, it was the blistering pace of Khurram Shahzad that proved too hot to handle for the Multan Sultans’ top order. He wreaked havoc in the early overs, claiming four wickets within the first 11 deliveries of his opening spell, effectively breaking the backbone of Multan’s batting.

Captain Mohammad Rizwan offered the only meaningful resistance with an unbeaten 44 off 44 deliveries, as the rest of the batting lineup crumbled around him. Leg-spinner Usama Mir was the only other Multan batter to reach double figures.

Half of the Multan team was dismissed by the eighth over. Iftikhar Ahmed (6 off 14) perished while attempting an ill-judged lofted shot after a slow and painful stay at the crease, caught at long-on by Rilee Rossouw off Faheem Ashraf. New Zealand all-rounder Michael Bracewell followed soon after, trying to clear the infield with an aggressive stroke off Faheem, only to be caught in the covers.

Khurram Shahzad’s spell was a standout performance, as he dismissed Yasir Khan (5 off 4), Usman Khan (0 off 3), Kamran Ghulam (3 off 6), and Curtis Campher (4 off 4) by the end of the fourth over, leaving Multan reeling.

Mohammad Amir was unfortunate to go wicketless despite creating chances, as two catches were dropped off his bowling. He conceded just 14 runs in his three overs. Mohammad Wasim Jr. and Faheem Ashraf both picked up two wickets each, giving away 18 and 21 runs respectively. Mystery spinner Abrar Ahmed was economical but wicketless, conceding only 13 runs in his three-over spell.

With this dominant performance, the Quetta Gladiators have firmly stamped their authority in PSL X, showing their bowling firepower is a serious threat to every contender.
