ISLAMABAD: (PAKHTUN ENGLISH) Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) tax on Apple iPhones remains high in Pakistan, with the latest figures for 2025 showing PTA (Pakistan Telecommunication Authority) duties of the latest model staying over 1Lac for the base model.
As part of the government’s ongoing efforts to regulate smartphone imports and encourage local assembly, aggressive tax policies have been enforced by the PTA. As the government claims the move is necessary to protect local industry and reduce foreign exchange outflow, experts warn that such high levies are driving up costs and making premium devices unaffordable for the average consumer.
