PTI announces to participate in NA-129 Lahore bye-election

ISLAMABAD: The political committee of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) has announced that it will participate in the by-election of NA-129 Lahore.

The political committee of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf held a meeting on Zoom in Islamabad last night. According to the meeting announcement, the founders thank PTI for reposing full trust in the political committee, and political matters have been entrusted to the political committee for further consultation. The announcement states that there is deep concern about the daily hearing of the Toshakhana trial in Adiala Jail, daily hearing will affect the fundamental rights of the accused, daily hearing will hinder the delivery of justice.

The political committee’s announcement states that PTI considers the members disqualified in the May 9 cases as its true representatives, pays tribute to the members who were unjustly convicted, and the by-elections in the constituencies of the disqualified members will be boycotted. The announcement states that the election will be contested from NA-129 constituency in Lahore, and the political committee has decided to field a candidate for the vacant seat after the death of Mian Azhar.

The announcement of the political committee meeting further states that on the instructions of the founder of PTI, it was announced to resign from the Public Accounts Committee of the National Assembly, while it has also been decided to resign from the chairmanship and membership of the standing committees with immediate effect. According to the announcement, the political committee has paid tribute to the members who were unjustly punished.
