PESHAWAR: The Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) has prohibited its members from making public remarks on the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Mines and Minerals (Amendment) Bill, stating that the legislation will only proceed with approval from party founder Imran Khan.

Sources indicate that PTI’s political committee has instructed the KP government to avoid rushing the bill and has scheduled a briefing for elected representatives on April 14. The party also warned that disciplinary action would be taken against any member who speaks on the matter without prior authorisation.

The committee emphasised that the bill should not be introduced in the provincial assembly unless all stakeholders have been properly consulted.

The move comes amid rising internal disagreements within PTI ranks. A heated exchange reportedly occurred between KP Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur and senior leader Atif Khan in a PTI WhatsApp group.

Meanwhile, earlier this week, the KP government formally approved the cultivation and commercial use of cannabis and hemp for medical, industrial, and research purposes. The decision was taken during a cabinet meeting chaired by CM Gandapur, with regulatory rules now in place to govern licensing, processing, and sale.
