PTI clarifies stance, distances from CM Gandapur’s Kalabagh dam remarks

RAWALPINDI: In a clear sign of internal rift within the party, Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) on Wednesday distanced itself from recent remarks made by Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur regarding the construction of Kalabagh Dam.

While talking to media persons outside an Anti-Terrorism Court in Rawalpindi, PTI Secretary General Salman Akram Raja said that CM Gandapur’s comments regarding Kalabagh dam reflected his personal opinion and termed it against the party’s official policy.

Central leader of PTI said that both Sindh and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa have long-standing reservations over the construction of the controversial Kalabagh Dam.

Salman Akram Raja further said that any project opposed by two provinces cannot be in the interest of the federation, adding that no such project could be implemented without consensus.

Earlier, CM Ali Amin Gandapur announced his strong support for the construction of the Kalabagh Dam. He also urged the Sindh government to engage in dialogue to resolve the issues surrounding the project.
