ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) has decided to fully participate in the by-elections and announced not to leave the political field open for its rival to elect them unopposed.
This decision was taken after detailed consultation and voting in the party’s political committee meeting. Sources said that a formal vote was held on the issue of participating in the by-election or not in the meeting held last night, in which the majority of members voted in favour of participating in the elections. The participants of the meeting said that leaving the field empty for political opponents would not be a wise decision.
The political committee has issued instructions to start electoral preparations for the expected by-elections in different constituencies of the country. It has also been decided to mobilise the party organizations and accelerate the consultative process for the selection of candidates.
The issue of nomination for the post of opposition leader in the National Assembly was also discussed in the meeting, however, the political committee could not reach any final conclusion on the possible nomination of Mahmood Khan Achakzai.
