PTI faces major setback as Speaker revoked three Key Parliamentary positions

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf has suffered a major setback in the National Assembly as the Speaker National Assembly formally informed the house regarding revoking and disqualification of opposition leader Omar Ayub, Parliamentary leader and Deputy parliamentary leader.

Reliable sources said that Omar Ayub has been removed from the seat of opposition leader, the designation of parliamentary leader has been withdrawn from Zartaj Gul and deputy parliamentary leader from Ahmed Chatha, along with this, the opposition leader’s chamber has also been withdrawn from PTI.

Sources say that the Speaker of the National Assembly has formally informed the House about the disqualification of the relevant members by the rules and regulations of the Assembly.

Now, the consultation process between the opposition parties and the Speaker will be resumed for the appointment of a new opposition leader, after which the Speaker of the National Assembly will issue a notification for the appointment of a new opposition leader.

According to sources, PTI will have to re-nominate the names of the parliamentary leader and deputy parliamentary leader for the members with independent status. Omar Ayub has also been delisted from the Public Accounts Committee and Finance Committee, while the membership of various standing committees has also been withdrawn from seven disqualified PTI members.
