PTI founder’s release possible in 45 days: Sher Afzal Marwat

Imran Khan challenges transfer of judges in IHC

ISLAMABAD: PTI member and National Assembly lawmaker Sher Afzal Marwat claimed on private TV show  that the PTI founder (Imran Khan) could be released within 45 days if ongoing “backdoor negotiations” succeed. He stated the founder was asked to “remain silent for sixty days and curb social media” activism, with 15 days already completed.

Marwat criticized internal PTI dynamics, alleging “grouping” within the party since its inception, where members “hide behind someone to strengthen themselves.” He also targeted PTI’s leadership decisions, claiming Salman Akram Raja was made Secretary General “without qualifications” and accused Aleema Khan, the founder’s sister, of mocking his illness and controlling PTI’s social media teams.

He revealed his expulsion from PTI stemmed from opposing “hereditary politics” and claimed he advocated for the party’s leadership “for free,” handling 90 meetings and 74 legal cases without payment. In contrast, he alleged lawyer Salman Safdar was paid Rs. 61 crore until December 2024.

Marwat linked the founder’s delayed release to social media activity, citing three near-release instances, including an October 8 negotiation where the founder was to contest elections and enter parliament within 45 days. He suggested current talks require the founder’s silence and social media restraint, which he claims is already happening.

He dismissed Salman Akram Raja’s long-term role in PTI, predicting, “I do not see Salman Akram Raja in PTI after one and a half months.”
