Hammad Azhar resigns from all PTI positions

PESHAWAR: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Central leader Hammad Azhar reached his home after a prolonged disappearance to attend the funeral prayer of his father Mian Muhammad Azhar.

According to media reports, Hammad Azhar was wanted in the May 09 cases and had been wanted by law enforcement agencies for several months. However, he ended his absconding on the death of his father and attended the funeral.

The country’s political leadership has expressed deep sorrow and grief over the death of Mian Muhammad Azhar. Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif said in his message that Mian Azhar was a shrewd politician, may Allah Almighty grant the deceased a place in His mercy and grant patience to the family.

Former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif also expressed his sorrow and said that Mian Muhammad Azhar and his father Mian Muhammad Sharif had a long-standing relationship. He prayed for the elevation of the deceased’s rank and patience for the family.

The late Mian Muhammad Azhar was a senior politician, former Governor of Punjab and founding leader of the Muslim League (Q), who played an important role in Pakistani politics. His death is being described as a great national loss.
