PESHAWAR: Pakistan Tehreek-I-Insaf (PTI) workers on Tuesday staged a protest rally in Peshawar’s assembly chowk demanding incarcerated Imran Khan’s release
Protesters on the occasion chanted slogans in support of PTI and raised demands for the release of Imran Khan and other jailed PTI workers who have been taken into custody in different periods in recent years for holding protest rallies in Islamabad and parts of Punjab.
Former Deputy Speaker Mahmood Jan, who also participated in the protest, spoke exclusively to “Pakhtun Digital” and said that their leader Imran Khan has been unjustly imprisoned by the government.
He claimed their leader and party workers were being mistreated in the Punjab jails, more than 20 workers have been imprisoned in each barrack of the jails.
“The founder of PTI has been kept in solitary confinement, visits are not allowed,” Mahmood Jan asserted.
He further said that party leaders and lawyers were not being allowed to see Imran Khan.
The former deputy speaker narrates that the protest aims to raise voices against the government’s unconstitutional actions and for its founder and party workers’ release.
