PESHAWAR: The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) government has suspended the appointment of police officer Khan Zeb Mohmand as District Police Officer (DPO) of Swabi following strong objections from Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) workers.
A notification issued by the KP Inspector General of Police (IGP) on June 27 had appointed Mohmand, a Grade-18 PSP officer, as Swabi DPO after the federal government transferred his services to the province. However, the KP government halted the posting after PTI workers raised concerns over Mohmand’s past actions against the party in Islamabad.
KP Food Minister Zahir Shah Toru confirmed the decision, stating that PTI workers were unhappy due to Mohmand’s strict measures against the party in the past. Taking immediate notice, Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur ordered the suspension of his appointment.
The KP Police have not yet issued an official statement on the matter.
