PTI ready to work with federal govt on national interest: Junaid Akbar

"National Interest First: PTI Extends Hand to Federal Govt, Says Junaid Akbar"

Islamabad: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Khyber Pakhtunkhwa President and Member of National Assembly Junaid Akbar stated that while differences with the federal government remain, PTI is willing to cooperate on matters of national interest.

He emphasized that the party would not compromise the province’s interests, even for the release of PTI founder Imran Khan.

Speaking exclusively to Pakhtun Digital, Akbar addressed the proposed Mines and Minerals Bill 2025, saying PTI would support it only if it benefits the province.

“If we feel the bill is in the province’s interest, we won’t oppose it. Disagreements with the federal government exist, but we’ll stand together for national interest,” he said.

Akbar denied any such condition when asked if Imran Khan’s release was linked to the bill.

“We have never said this before and will not trade the province’s interests for Khan Sahib’s release,” he clarified.

Regarding a possible alliance with Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam (JUI), Akbar said while PTI desires opposition unity, collaboration depends on mutual agreement.

“Our goal is constitutional supremacy, but each party has its own stance,” he added
