PTI reaping fruits of its own doings: Ayaz Sadiq

ISLAMABAD: National Assembly Speaker Ayaz Sadiq has said that the political adversaries of the current government are now facing the consequences of their past actions.

Speaking at the inauguration of development projects in Lahore’s Lakhodair area, Sadiq stated that those who once pushed the country toward instability have now faded from public memory. He claimed that Pakistan’s progress was disrupted when Nawaz Sharif’s government was ousted through a conspiracy. “Between 2017 and 2023, the country moved backward instead of forward,” he remarked.

The Speaker praised Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif’s efforts, saying he is working diligently to improve the country’s situation, while those who once ridiculed the leadership are now paying the price for their conduct. He recalled the disrespect shown to Begum Kulsoom Nawaz in 2018 and criticized political rivals for their derogatory remarks.

Sadiq further accused the previous PTI government of breaching commitments with the IMF, which, he said, caused severe economic harm. He credited PML-N’s leadership for pulling Pakistan back from the brink of default and steering the country once again toward progress after the recent elections.

Touching on regional tensions, he said India made unfounded accusations against Pakistan after the Pahalgam incident, but Pakistan’s armed forces, strongly backed by the nation, responded with resolve.
