PESHAWAR: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Member of National Assembly Shandana Gulzar has levelled serious allegations against the SHO Badhbera police station for his alleged harassment and compared his attitude with old practices of FCR.
According to the national newspaper (Daily Jang website), while holding a press conference with the residents of the area at the Peshawar Press Club, Shandana Gulzar said that the police of Badh Bir police station are violating the sanctity of the chador and the four walls.
She alleged that the police personnel are entering the houses without warrants, and the residents of the area are being constantly harassed. She said that the Badhbera police have ruined the lives of the local population, and it feels as if the law does not exist.
She demanded that the concerned SHO be suspended immediately, otherwise the PTI will join hands with the people and protest vigorously in the area. Shandana Gulzar’s allegations have been taken at the highest level. Taking notice of the incident, IG Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Zulfiqar Hameed has directed the CCPO Peshawar to conduct a full inquiry into the matter.
The CCPO has appointed Chief Traffic Officer Haroon Rashid as the inquiry officer, who has been directed to submit a report within 48 hours. According to the IG, “No one is above the law. If the allegations are proven true, strict action will be taken against the concerned police officer.”
Residents of the area also expressed serious concerns regarding police behaviour in the press conference and demanded immediate action from the government.
