SWAT: Chairman of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf Parliamentarian (PTIP) and former Chief Minister of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Mahmood Khan has said that the PTI currently faces a fragmentation into five factions, with each faction considering itself a leadership entity.

He shared these insights while addressing lawyers during the oath-taking ceremony of the newly elected cabinet of the Insaf Lawyers Forum Parliamentarians at the District Bar Room in Gulkada on Friday.

In response to questions from journalists, Khan mentioned that there is effectively no functioning government in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, and the government’s authority has diminished in seventy per cent of the province’s areas. The people and the police force were suffering from insecurity.

Replying to a question, Mahmood Khan said that former Chief Minister Pervez Khatak has no connection with PTIP and he can join wherever he wants.

He said that the federal and provincial governments have not only failed to establish law and order, but the country is also suffering from severe inflation and instability.

“In these circumstances, the establishment is the only institution that the nation is focused on,” Mahmood Khan stated.

He emphasized that he has maintained a respectful relationship with Imran Khan, affirming that his view of Khan is unchanged: he was his leader yesterday, is his leader today, and will remain so in the future. “I am continuously receiving signals, but as long as Imran Khan is in jail, I will continue my political journey from my platform,” the former Chief Minister of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa said.

Mr Khan criticized Ali Amin Gandapur’s government, claiming that it has not contributed to development and has halted projects worth billions of rupees that were initiated during his tenure. He has approached the High Court, hoping it will deliver justice to the people of Swat.

Mahmood Khan remarked that this homeland belongs to all of us and that peace and prosperity are essential for everyone to live freely here. In light of the current situation in Pakistan, he appealed to the Army Chief and the establishment to take action for the release of the people’s leader, Imran Khan.
