ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf’s four senator, including Senator Azam Khan Swati, Senator Ali Zafar, Senator Dost Muhammad and Senator Zeeshan Khanzada, have resigned from standing committees.
Azam Swati has resigned from five Senate standing committees on the party’s instructions. Azam Swati says that by resigning from standing committees, he is protesting against the current parliamentary system. He has sent his resignation to his parliamentary leader, Ali Zafar, who will send it to the Senate Chairman.
Senator Ali Zafar has resigned from the chairmanship of the Information and Broadcasting Committee, while Standing Committee Chairman Overseas Pakistanis Zeeshan Khanzada has also resigned. He has also resigned from the membership of the committees on foreign affairs, finance, commerce and privatisation.
Senator Dost Muhammad has also resigned from the membership of the standing committees. He has resigned from the membership of the human rights, food security, poverty alleviation and railways committees.
In addition, PTI-backed Senator Mirza Muhammad Afridi has resigned from the membership of Senate standing committees, which include Commerce, Industry and Production, Education, Energy and Inter-Provincial Coordination Committees.
It should be noted that the founder of PTI had directed the resignation of Senate standing committees yesterday.
