PTI’s past policies behind current security crisis: KP governor

Governor Kundi blamed the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) for the deteriorating law and order situation in Bajaur and KP, accusing the former ruling party of "handing over a peaceful province to extremists."

PESHAWAR:  Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) Governor Faisal Karim Kundi issued a strong warning to the opposition, stating that he would table a no-confidence motion if they gain even a single additional member in the assembly.

Speaking to the media, Governor Kundi blamed the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) for the deteriorating law and order situation in Bajaur and KP, accusing the former ruling party of “handing over a peaceful province to extremists.”

He further criticized KP Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur, questioning his competence by pointing to the rising insecurity in Dera Ismail Khan (DI Khan)—the CM’s hometown. “If the Chief Minister was capable, DI Khan would have been a model of peace. Instead, people fear stepping out at night,” Kundi remarked.

The governor also condemned what he called the CM’s confrontational approach, stating, “Instead of ensuring peace, the Chief Minister is challenging the state. Any attempt to weaken Pakistan’s security forces is unacceptable.”

He assured that the federal government would take all necessary measures to protect national interests and restore stability in the province.
