Public to get Starlink internet by November: Shaza Fatima

Government launches policy to provide mobile phones on easy installments

 

ISLAMABAD: Federal Minister for Information Technology, Shaza Fatima Khawaja, has said that the government will soon grant Starlink a license, and the public will get Starlink internet by November or December.

According to the details, the Federal Minister for IT and the Chairman of PTA gave a briefing at a meeting of the National Assembly Standing Committee on Information Technology.

Shaza Fatima said that Starlink wanted everything completed by June. “We have given Starlink time until May. The pricing of Starlink has also been discussed. Some Chinese companies have also applied for a license,” she said.

Shaza Fatima Khawaja further said that telecom companies must be provided relief for 5G spectrum lest they go bankrupt when 5G starts.

The Chairman of the PTA is supervising the auction process. Revenue has to be earned, but infrastructure also has to be improved.

The PTA Chairman said that they had just given a temporary license to Starlink, and they would give the actual registration after completing all the steps.
