ISLAMABAD: Rain in Islamabad on Saturday evening brought much-needed relief after weeks of intense heat that had gripped the capital throughout June.
Earlier this month, Islamabad experienced one of its most severe heatwaves, with temperatures peaking at a scorching 45°C on June 11 — among the highest ever recorded in the city.
The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) had already forecast pre-monsoon showers in various parts of the country, including Islamabad and Rawalpindi, between June 20 and 23. The rainfall is expected to help reduce the intense heat, with temperatures likely to ease gradually over the coming days.
The shift in weather marked the beginning of Islamabad’s transition into the monsoon season, offering a brief but welcome respite for residents.
