PDMA issues alert about rains in KP hilly areas from tomorrow

PESHAWAR: The Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) reported that two people died and nine others were injured in rain-related accidents across Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) over the past three days. Heavy rains, hailstorms, and lightning strikes also partially damaged 11 houses in the province.

According to the PDMA report released on Friday, the fatalities included one man and one woman. Among the injured were four men, three women, and two children. The incidents occurred in Charsadda, Khyber, Shangla, Battagram, and Lower Chitral districts.

The PDMA has instructed district administrations to provide immediate relief to affected families, ensure medical care for the injured, and prioritize reopening roads blocked by debris or flooding. Authorities are also monitoring the situation through a functional Emergency Operation Center.

“Residents can report emergencies via PDMA’s helpline 1700,” a spokesperson said, adding that the agency remains in constant contact with local administrations and relief organizations to address further risks.
