Rain, Snowfall break prolonged dry spell in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa

The upper parts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa on Tuesday received a heavy snowfall, covering the Region Mountains with snow blanket, attracting nature lovers from different parts of the country to see snow in the scenic tourist hotspots.

A long drought in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa which had caused an increase in viral infections in the region, ended on Monday night as the district’s upper parts experienced heavy snowfall, while rain lashed the rest of plain areas of the province.

According to locals, snowfall received in the upper parts of Malakand and Hazara divisions, particularly in the district Swat, Chitral, Mansehra, Abottabad, Shangla, Dir Upper, Kohistan and Battagram districts.

The mountains in the upper districts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa have been blanketed with snow, presenting a stunning view that attracts nature lovers.

An updates issued by the Pakistan National Forecasting Centre on Tuesday says cold and dry weather prevailed over most parts of the country. However, rain and snowfall occurred in the upper Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan while, light rain/drizzle at isolated places in Islamabad and Potohar region.

Rainfall as recorded in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa: Dir Upper, 15 milimeter (MM) , Lower 01MM, Kalam 12mm, Mir Khani 12mm, Drosh 07mm, Balakot 06mm, Malam Jabba mm, Pattan 04mm, Chitral mm, Kakul 01mm.

According to PNFC, Kalam received 05 inches of snow, Astore 02 inches and Malam Jabba of Swat district recorded 01 inch snow on Tuesdady.

Minimum Temperature recorded -07 at Leh, at Gupis -05, Parachinar -04, Bagrote -03, Malam Jabba and Ziarat -02.

However, the PMD forecasts that cold and dry weather is expected in most parts of the country on Wednesday and partly cloudy weather with light rain and light snowfall in upper parts of Kashmir and Gilgit Baltistan.
