PESHAWAR: Provincial Disaster Management Authority said that 13 people died and three were injured in various accidents due to the rains and flash floods during the last two days.
Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) has issued a preliminary report on the loss of lives and property in different parts of the province due to the rains and flash floods reported in the last two days.
The dead include nine children, three women and a man, while the injured include two children and one woman. According to the report so far, a total of 19 houses were damaged due to rains and flash floods. in which 17 houses partially and two houses completely collapsed. These accidents happened in different districts of the province include Swat, Buner, Malakand, Torghar, Shangla and Mansehra.
The current series of heavy rains is likely to continue intermittently until July 25. PDMA had already sent a message to all district administrations to take precautionary measures in the wake of the weather situation.
Director General PDMA issued a directive to speed up relief activities in all affected districts and provide immediate relief to the victims. PDMA also issued directives to all relevant institutions to use all means to restore road closures and communication lines at tourist sites.
DG PDMA said that all relevant institutions, rescue teams, district administration and rescue 1122 are in contact and monitoring the situation. PDMA’s emergency operation centre is fully operational.
Meanwhile, Galyat Development Authority Director General Shahrukh Ali issued urgent orders during monsoon season and said that the control room will be active for 24 hours a day for any emergency. Debris from Namli Mira Road and other highways GDA removed immediately to restore traffic, while the leaves of the employees have been cancelled.
