BAJAUR: Bajaur police on Thursday claimed to have arrested a suspect in the murder case of 5-year-old girl Maria Bibi, who was killed after raping her on Wednesday in Bajaur. The accused turned out to be a close relative.
District Police Officer Bajaur, Waqas Rafique, while addressing a news conference along with police officers in his office on Thursday, said that after the murder of the girl in the Mena area of War Mamond tehsil yesterday, there was great grief and anger among the people as soon as they received the information, we immediately formed special teams for investigation and conducted the investigation and made arrests on regional information.
DPO said further investigation was conducted based on suspicion of one accused Bilal, son of Habib-ur-Rehman, after which he confessed to the crime.
Bajaur police head said the 16-year-old accused Bilal son of Habib-ur-Rehman belongs to the same area and is also a close relative of the slain girl. DPO stated that the suspect raped the girl by luring her with Samosa and later killed her.
The accused had pornographic videos on his mobile. The accused killed the girl by putting his hand on her mouth and choking her and later stones were also thrown at her.
The accused was murdered out of fear. The police arrested the accused 12 hours after the incident. The evidence has been sent for forensic testing.
Local people have fully cooperated in the arrest of the accused. It is worth mentioning that the previous day, five-year-old Maria Bibi was brutally murdered in the Mena area of Mamond tehsil. Bajaur police had earlier arrested the murderer of a 7-year-old child in Kamangara within 24 hours last year.
