Red Zone sealed off: Jamaat-e-Islami to stage Gaza March today

ISLAMABAD: The federal capital is on high alert today, as Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) prepares to hold a ‘Gaza Solidarity March’ at 3:00 PM, protesting Israeli actions in Gaza.

Authorities have sealed off all routes leading to the Red Zone using containers, barbed wire, and concrete barriers. Key entry points like D-Chowk and Serena Chowk are blocked, and heightened security measures are in place across the city.

The Islamabad Police have advised commuters to use the H-8 underpass and service roads for accessing sectors F-6, F-7, I, and H. Additionally, traffic restrictions are expected between 9:30 AM and 11:30 AM due to Pakistan Super League (PSL) team movements.

JI has called for nationwide participation, emphasising peaceful protest. The party has previously organized similar demonstrations in Karachi and Lahore and announced a nationwide strike on April 22 to protest Israeli military actions in Gaza.

These measures reflect Islamabad’s commitment to maintaining order during large-scale political demonstrations.
