A local religious leader, Maulana Ibrahim, was brutally killed in a shooting incident in the Tangi area of Charsadda district by unknown assailants, and his companion was also injured.
According to the police sources, the shooting occurred at Berlin Anza Kanda Batu while Maulana Ibrahim was travelling from Tangi to Prang Ghar area. He died instantly at the scene, while his companion sustained serious injuries.
Police sources say the body of the slain religious leader was taken to the tehsil headquarters hospital, THQ Tangi for a postmortem, and the injured companion was referred to Peshawar in critical condition. Police arrived at the scene, are collecting evidence, and have begun an investigation.
