‘Resign if you have morals’ – KP Governor to CM over Swat incident

PESHAWAR: Khyber Pakhtunkhwa KP Governor Faisal Karim Kundi has strongly criticized the provincial government over the recent tourist tragedy in Swat, holding them responsible for “criminal negligence.”

Speaking on a private TV channel, Kundi lambasted the KP government, particularly targeting Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur who also holds the tourism portfolio. “Those who talked about the state of Medina, who said rulers are responsible if a dog dies of thirst – today in Swat River people died screaming,” Kundi said.

The governor went on to say: “Today prisoner number 420 [PTI founder Imran Khan ], tell me what punishment should be given to this Chief Minister of yours? If he had any moral courage, he should have resigned immediately.”

Kundi urged Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and the federal government to announce immediate compensation for affected families. “While no compensation can bring back lives, the victims deserve support. This is the least that can be done for losses caused by KP government’s criminal negligence,” he added.

The comments come after a recent incident where several tourists died in Swat due to what critics call administrative failure and lack of safety measures.
