ISLAMABAD: The Central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee will convene tomorrow (Sunday) to sight the Rabi-ul-Awwal moon, with Eid Milad-un-Nabi (12th Rabiul Awwal) likely to be observed on September 5, subject to moon sighting.
The meeting will be chaired by Maulana Abdul Khabir Azad, and attended by scholars as well as representatives from the Ministry of Science and Technology, the Meteorological Department, and SUPARCO. Zonal and district moon sighting committees will also hold sessions in their respective areas and forward verified testimonies to the central body for a final decision.
Meanwhile, SUPARCO has forecast a strong possibility of sighting the moon on August 24. A spokesperson noted that the moon will be born on August 23 at 11:06 am, and by the evening of August 24 it will be over 32 hours old. With a 45-minute interval between sunset and moonset in coastal areas, conditions are considered highly favourable for visibility.
