Six senators elected from the ruling Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf, while five senators elected from the opposition parties in the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s senate elections on Monday.
Elections were held on 11 Senate seats in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, with both government and opposition candidates winning.
According to the unconfirmed and unofficial results, 6 seats went to the government and 5 to the opposition.
Murad Saeed of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) got 26 votes, Faisal Javed 22 and Noorul Haq Qadri 21 votes to be elected senators on general seats. Mirza Afridi of PTI also got 21 votes to win the Senate seat.
On the opposition side, Atta-ul-Haq Darwesh of Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam (JUI) got 18 votes, while Niaz Ahmed, son of PML-N leader Amir Muqam, also got 18 votes and was elected senator.
Talha Mahmood of Pakistan Peoples Party got 17 votes to make it to the Upper House.
On the reserved seats for women, Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf’s Rubina Naz won with 89 votes, while Pakistan People’s Party’s Rubina Khalid won with 52 votes. On the technocrat seat, PTI’s Azam Swati won with 89 votes, while Dilawar Khan won with In 54 votes.
